Good morning and Happy National Watermelon Day! We thought this would be the perfect time to share our DIY fruit vases. All you need is a watermelon, a knife, and a spoon! Here’s how to make your own…
To create a watermelon vase, you will first need to find the side that the watermelon can rest on steadily without tipping over. If there is no such side, simply cut off a bit of the bottom to create a flat surface. Next, cut off the top and set aside. Make a crisscross pattern with the knife into the flesh of the watermelon and scoop it out with a spoon.
Now you have two options. You can fill the watermelon with water and add the flowers, or you can place a small glass or vase inside the watermelon for the flowers to go in. We stuck our flowers directly into the fruit. The watermelon was the perfect consistency for flower arranging! No need for floral foam here!
You can also make a vase out of a pineapple using the same technique! You will have tropical centerpieces in no time.
