DIY Washi Tape Pencils

We love washi tape! As we build up our growing collection, we’re finding more and more ways to use it. Earlier this week, we showed you how to make flower pens wrapped in washi tape, and today we’ve got an even easier DIY: washi tape pencils. You don’t need to break the bank when it comes to trendy back-to-school style. Any basic school supply can be jazzed up with a few pieces of our favorite new accessory.

Supplies: No. 2 Pencils (we got ours from Target for 77 cents!), washi tape in assorted colors, and scissors.

Directions: We wrapped ours two different ways. The first way was by cutting small pieces of tape (about an inch) and wrapping the pencil one piece at a time, horizontally, lining up the design the best we could. The second way was by cutting two or three pieces of tape the length of the pencil and placing them on the pencil from the base of the eraser to the tip. You could also wrap the pencils in a spiral with one long piece of tape.

Whenever you need to sharpen the pencil, just peel back a little tape and go to town! We hope you and your kids have fun making these pencils. Happy back-to-school season!
