DIY Valentine’s Day Sugar Scrub Favors

Happy Friday! Together with Places for Faces, we created a personalized favor that your valentines are sure to love. Here’s how to make your own delicious Valentine’s Day sugar scrub…

DIY Valentine's Day Sugar Scrub | Places for Faces | Vicky Barone

Ingredients: 1 ½ C white granulated sugar, ¼ C coconut oil (melted and cooled), 6 drops red food coloring, 5-10 drops essential oils.

Directions: Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until combined. Transfer to glass jars (ours are from the Target Dollar Spot!) and tie with baker’s twine. Use Places for Faces to create customized favor tags! Print, cut, hole punch, and tie onto each jar with the twine. Give jars to your sweethearts or keep them for yourself!

DIY Cheese Dip Bats

In honor of National Food Day, we thought we’d take a break from our normal sweet treats to bring you a salty snack (don’t worry, National Chocolate Day is on Friday 😉 )! We found the idea for these adorably cheesy bats on Pinterest and decided to make a version of our own! Here’s how…

DIY Cheese Dip Bats | Vicky Barone

Ingredients:
8oz cream cheese
8oz shredded cheese (use whatever you like! Italian, Parmesan, or even goat cheese!)
poppy seeds
blue torilla chips
candy eyes

Directions:
1. Mix cheeses in a bowl until blended.
2. Scoop out some of the cheese mixture and roll it into a ball.
3. Roll the ball in a bowl of poppy seeds until covered.
4. Break some tortilla chips in half to make wings and stick them into the cheese balls.
5. Press candy eyes into each cheese ball.
6. Serve immediately or leave in refrigerator to keep cool until ready to serve.

DIY Jack-o-Lantern Soda Bottles

Looking to add some spooky details to your Halloween party? How about these jack-o-lantern soda bottles with sweet faces and even sweeter orange soda! Here’s how we made our own and topped them off with Places for Faces…

DIY Jack-o-Lantern Soda Bottles | Vicky Barone | Places for Faces

Supplies: glass bottles, black vinyl stickers, scissors, Places for Faces, tape, and paper straws.

Directions:
1. Clean your soda bottles thoroughly and let dry.
2. Cut silly jack-o-lantern faces out of the black vinyl (we used scraps from other sticker projects!).**
3. Add the stickers to the soda bottles to create faces.
4. Use Places for Faces to create your own personalized dessert toppers.
5. Print out the template and cut out the faces.
6. Tape each one to a paper straw.
4. Add some orange soda and the straw to the bottle and enjoy!

**you can also draw the faces on with a Sharpie!

DIY Pencil Bags

Today we’re sharing a fun DIY project for kids OR teachers! These “Welcome Bags” are painted to look like pencils and can be filled with treats for a new teacher or school supplies for new students. We even personalized ours with Places for Faces! Here’s how to make your own…

DIY Pencil Bags | Back to School Ideas | Vicky Barone

Supplies: yellow gift bags (we used the leftovers from this project!), pink, silver, and tan acrylic paint, a paint brush, painter’s tape, black tissue paper, and custom tags by Places for Faces.

Directions:
1. Tape off the bottom and top of a bag with the painter’s tape.
2. Paint the bottom pink to resemble an eraser, and paint the top tan to resemble the wood of the pencil.
3. Let dry and remove tape carefully.
4. Tape off one more section above the pink eraser and paint silver to resemble the metal.
5. Use Places for Faces to create custom face tags! Print from home, cut them out, and glue them to the bag.
6. Open up the bag and add treats, school supplies, books, and whatever other things you’d like.
7. Finish with some black tissue paper to resemble the graphite!

Pineapple Party with Places for Faces!

If you follow Vicky Barone on Instagram, you might have already noticed that we have a serious thing for pineapples. It’s no wonder that we decided to throw a party dedicated to our favorite tropical fruit! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing tutorials and recipes for the details you see below, so stay tuned! But first, check out how Places for Faces added some personality to our party!

We used Places for Faces to create appetizer toppers! Just upload a photo, crop the face, add a sticker and choose a template. You are always just a few minutes away from personalized cupcake toppers, thank you notes, signs, and so much more.

The yellow crown sticker and the pink tiara sticker matched the party perfectly. There are so many stickers and colors to choose from and we are adding new ones all the time!

To make the pineapple appetizers, you will need deli ham, fresh pineapple, Places for Faces toppers, and party picks.

Directions:
1. Take a slice of deli ham and roll it into a tube.
2. Cut the ham tube into pieces and set aside.
3. Cube a pineapple.
4. Create toppers with Places for Faces (we used the “Dessert Topper” template!).
5. Cut out the toppers and tape them to the party picks.
6. Stack the ham on top of the pineapple and insert a party pick.
7. Serve immediately or keep in fridge until ready to serve.

Happy 10th Birthday, Cooper!

I can’t believe my first boy is 10. Meet The Cooper Dog (Cooper T. Dog Esquire). He is my first boy. My fur baby. He hangs out with me all day and keeps me company. He has been featured on a number of my cards and is generally a good sport whenever there is a treat involved. Those big brown eyes pretty much know exactly what I’m thinking. He’s quick with a kiss and a cuddle and tries to sit on my lap because he thinks he’s a small dog. He knows when I’m feeling down and won’t leave my side if I’m hurt or need comfort. He is my very best friend.

We are so in love with Spring! Today we’re sharing the easiest DIY known to man. All you need is a little metallic spray paint to take your terracotta pots from drab to fab! Check it out…

It may not seem like a lot, but just the simple addition of a little metallic sheen makes a big difference! We added two coats of metallic copper spray paint to plain terracotta pots and just love how they turned out.

Because the copper color is so similar to terracotta, we didn’t have to worry about painting inside the pots at all. Just flip the pots upside down and give them a spray! No worrying about making clean lines on the rims because the color matches so well!
