Halloween is in three days! Surprise your kids with a mini jack-o-lantern in their lunch box this week!

Clementine Jack-o-Lanterns | Vicky Barone

All you need are some clementines and a Sharpie you have yourself a mini jack-o-lantern. Since we had so many clementines, we decided to make a little Happy Halloween display with them! Make a bunch of funny faced jack-o-lanterns and put them in a large bowl for a healthy Halloween centerpiece.

DIY Chevron Pumpkins

Forget carving and scooping, forget taping and painting, and forget rotting pumpkins. All you need to make these stylish chevron pumpkins are some paint pens, a Sharpie, some fake pumpkins, and a steady hand…

DIY Chevron Pumpkins | Vicky Barone

Materials: tall orange pumpkin, small white pumpkin, gold paint pens, a black Sharpie marker, and a pencil for stenciling.

Directions:
1. For the white pumpkin, I used a pencil to trace some chevrons and then the black Sharpie to fill them in. It helped to make a mark where each chevron would peak, to make sure they were spaced evenly apart.
2. For the orange pumpkin, I used a pencil again to mark the peaks of each chevron, spacing them evenly. I then traced lines connecting each peak with the pencil. I finished by filling in the lines with a gold paint pen.
3. Let dry completely before handling. Spray with an acrylic sealer if you plan to sit these outside at all!

That’s it! Now you don’t have to worry about rotting pumpkins AND you can store these away for next year.

Owl Cupcakes

We are LOVING all of the fun Halloween ideas circulating Pinterest and Craftgawker, especially these owl cupcakes! They are so delicious and make us laugh every time we see them. Wouldn’t they make a fun addition to a Halloween party or an owl-themed birthday party?

Owl Cupcakes | Vicky Barone

Look at that cute little face! How can you resist? Here’s how we made ours:

Owl Cupcakes | Vicky Barone

Ingredients: chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil, chocolate icing, brown and orange m&ms, and Oreos.

Directions:
1. Make cupcakes according to mix directions. Let cool completely.
2. Carefully separate Oreos with a slow twisting motion. One half should keep all of the filling; discard the other half (preferably in your mouth).
3. Ice cupcakes and immediately press two Oreos with filling onto each cupcake.
4. Add an orange m&m to each cupcake for the beak.
5. Use a small dot of chocolate icing to attach the brown m&ms to the Oreos for pupils.

DIY Halloween Fabric Scrap Garland

Here is an easy no-sew garland that can be made in any color scheme for any holiday. We used some black and gray scrap fabric we had left over from past projects, mixed with two orange fabric quarters we picked up at the craft store to make this Halloween-inspired garland.

DIY Halloween Fabric Scrap Garland | Vicky Barone

Supplies: scrap fabric, black cord, and fabric scissors.

Directions:
1. Cut fabric strips about 8″ long and 1/2″ to 1″ wide.
2. Tie the fabric strips onto the cord by making loop knots: Fold a fabric strip in half and place it behind the cord. Take the bottom ends of the strip and fold them up over the cord and into the loop. Pull to secure.
3. Alternate fabric colors to create a pattern as you attach them to the cord.
4. Hang the garland and enjoy!

This garland looks great hanging on a mantle or across a window! It’s a great way to utilize leftover fabric and we might just have to try it for Christmas.

DIY Halloween Mobile

We saw this bat chandelier while flipping through the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and knew we could make out own for a fraction of the price. It’s not longer available on the site, so if you like it, keep scrolling to learn how to make your own!

DIY Halloween Mobile | Vicky Barone

Supplies: 2 wood embroidery hoops (one smaller than the other), black acrylic paint, a paint brush, black hemp or string, bat cut-outs or stickersblack glitter organza, scissors, and a hot glue gun.

Directions:
1. Remove the outer part of each wooden hoop and set aside. You will only need the inner hoops.
2. Paint the inner hoops black with acrylic paint. Let dry completely.
3. Attach bats to lengths of string and tie at varying heights onto both hoops. We used bat stickers that we stuck together to sandwich the string between them, mixed with some papet cut-outs attached with hot glue.
4. Tie four long pieces of black string equidistant apart on the lower hoop then attach those four strings to the upper hoop. If there is enough string, tie all four pieces together in the center to hang the mobile. If not, attach more string to create a place to hang the mobile.
5. Measure the inside of the larger hoop and cut a piece of organza the same length. Cut the organza in half down the middle, making wavy cuts.
6. Using hot glue, attach one half of the organza strip to the inside of the larger hoop. Do the same with the other half on the smaller hoop and cut excess organza.

You can fill the mobile with lots of bats, or use other Halloween-inspired shapes! Hang this in an entry way or over a table for a spooky touch to your Halloween decor. Enjoy!
