DIY Gold Coffee Beans

Good morning and Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! We are so so excited for 2016 and we hope you are too!

What better way to kick off the new year than with coffee? And because you deserve the very best, how about we make it gold? These gold coffee beans are super easy to make and only require TWO supplies! Add them to votives, use them as vase filler, or simply add them to a pretty bowl on your coffee table (get it?!).

DIY Gold Coffee Beans | Vicky Barone

Supplies: coffee beans, metallic spray paint, and a shoe box.

Directions:
1. Pour coffee beans into a shoe box.
2. In a well-ventilated area (preferably outside), spray the coffee beans with a layer of spray paint. Let dry.
3. After letting the first layer dry a bit (15-30 minutes depending on the weather), give the shoe box a shake to scramble the coffee beans and reveal unpainted sides. Spray another layer of paint and let dry again.
4. Repeat this process until the coffee beans are completely coated in paint!

*Be sure not to shake the box immediately after spraying the beans. This will cause them to stick together in clumps as the paint dries.

Aren’t they pretty? You can also remove any stubborn beans that successfully hid from the spray paint.

We added ours to some little votives, but they would also look great as vase filler!

DIY Leaf Name Tags

Well hello there, Monday. Nice to see you again. Since we are less than three weeks away from Thanksgiving, we’re sharing a glimpse of our tablescape complete with hand lettered name tags. They are truly so easy to make, and add a beautiful metallic touch to your place settings.

Supplies:
– Leaves: Big or small, real or faux, any leaves will do. We pulled these very real leaves off a bush from my backyard!
A gold paint pen

Directions:
1. Make sure you choose a sturdy, living leaf to write on. Dry and crispy (dying) leaves are too brittle and won’t withstand the pressure of the paint pen. If you use fake leaves, you should be just fine.
2. Test out some lettering on a few test leaves until you get a hang of the right pressure and strokes. For hand lettering help, check out Pinterest, or simply copy a pretty font you like.
3. Letter your leaves and let dry.
4. Tie a napkin with twine and place the leaf directly on top.
5. Scatter extra leaves down your table runner.

Aren’t they pretty? Gold paint pens are so much fun, you’ll want to write your name on everything!

DIY Black & Gold Mason Jar Vase

Not all DIY projects have to be super complicated with tons of supplies. This polka dotted vase took no time at all and only required TWO things!

DIY Black & Gold Mason Jar Vase | Vicky Barone

We found the black mason jar at Joann’s (similar here) as well as a beautiful metallic gold paint pen. If you can’t find a black mason jar, you can either spray paint a clear mason jar with black paint OR fill the mason jar with  black paint, swirl it around, and let it dry upside down.

Hold the mason jar upside down and start dotting with the gold paint pen at the base. Concentrate the dots at the base, and have them diffuse as you work your way up the jar.

Let dry, and fill with your favorite flowers. This would make a great gift or even a pretty Fall wedding centerpiece. Don’t pack them up after Halloween! They will look great with your New Year’s Eve decor as well 🙂

Gold-Dipped Candles

Today we’re sharing an incredibly easy DIY to add some glimmer to your Thanksgiving table!

Gold Dipped Candles | Thanksgiving Table | Vicky Barone

Supplies: white candles of any shape or size, painter’s tape, and metallic spray paint.

Directions:
1. Tape off candles with painter’s tape, making sure to also cover the tops of the candles. Create a straight line with the tape around the candle and seal by lightly running your fingernail around the edge of the tape. We put our tape at different heights to create the look above.
2. In a well-ventilated area (preferably outside!), spray paint the bases of the candles according to the directions on the can.
3. Let dry completely before carefully removing the tape.
4. Scatter these around your Thanksgiving table for a little Holiday mood lighting!
