Happy 10th Birthday, Cooper!

I can’t believe my first boy is 10.  Meet The Cooper Dog (Cooper T. Dog Esquire).  He is my first boy. My fur baby. He hangs out with me all day and keeps me company.  He has been featured on a number of my cards and is generally a good sport whenever there is a treat involved.  Those big brown eyes pretty much know exactly what I’m thinking.  He’s quick with a kiss and a cuddle and tries to sit on my lap because he thinks he’s a small dog.  He knows when I’m feeling down and won’t leave my side if I’m hurt or need comfort.  He is my very best friend.

As is tradition, I made Cooper a doggie birthday cake to celebrate! Here is the recipe I used if you’d like to make one. I also created personalized cake toppers (and his little birthday hat sticker!) using Places for Faces!

Happy 9th Birthday, Cooper!

It’s Cooper’s Birthday!!!

Cooper is my best friend.  He’s always there for me when I need him.  He kisses away my tears when I’m feeling sad. He’s always available for a cuddle and his joyful dance for a scrumptious treat always puts a smile on my face.  He’s what I would call a “soulful” dog.  When I look into his deep, brown eyes, it’s like he can read my mind.  He’s the first one that taught me how to be a parent.  He will always be my first boy and there will always be a special place in my heart that belongs to him and only him.  We rescued him. He rescues me all the time.

His most favorite thing in the world to do is to play Frisbee. We’ve had a rough year, both him and I.  But he’s been there for me every step of the way.  Cooper had an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) last fall to reduce the pain he feels from his hip dysplasia, in the hope that one day he’d once again be able to play Frisbee without feeling the pain that came later.  After months of rehab and laser therapy, I’m happy to report that Cooper can once again play Frisbee mostly pain free.  I’m so very thankful for the people that helped us through the last year and I’m so very thankful for having him in my life.  He brings me joy and comfort that only he can bring.  I love you, Cooper Dog. Happy Birthday!!!

Here’s the cake I made him:

Doggie Birthday Cake | Vicky BaroneI used the same recipe for his 7th birthday, which you can find right here. I also used Places for Faces to create the cake toppers! The one in the center is from the “Centerpiece” template, and the outer two are from the standard “Dessert Topper” template. Places for Faces is still in testing, so we’d love your opinion if you use it! Follow this link to get started and let us know what you think!

Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Treats | Vicky Barone….and here he is, not trying quite so hard to be patient.

Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Treats | Vicky BaroneHomemade dog treats make excellent gifts as well. Tie them up in some cute baker’s twine and give them to a fellow dog lover! As for us, we’ll be gifting all of these treats (in moderation, of course) to the soon-to-be birthday boy! Happy Birthday, Coop!

*Store treats in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to a month.
