Ribbon Tied Silverware

We’ve been seeing a lot of pretty place settings on Pinterest that have silverware tied with ribbon or twine. We think it is just the sweetest thing (and the easiest!), so we adopted it for our own Thanksgiving table!

DIY Ribbon Tied SilverwareAll you need is your flatware, and a piece of ribbon! We tied ours in a knot and curled the ribbon a little. You can also tie a bow or even tie a name tag into the ribbon for a place setting.

Irish Mashed Potatoes

Looking for an easy mashed potato dish for your Thanksgiving dinner? This Irish Mashed Potatoes recipe is perfect to make in advance to free up your kitchen the day of!

 

Irish Mashed Potatoes – serves 8
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Ingredients:
3 pounds peeled Yukon gold potatoes, halved
2 ½ cups coarsely chopped cabbage
6 garlic cloves, peeled
1 chicken-flavored bouillon cube
½ cup (4 oz) 1/3 less fat cream cheese
¼ cup fat free milk
¼ cup fat free sour cream
½ tsp kosher salt
¼ tsp black pepper

Directions:
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large stockpot; cover with water. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. Drain.

Return potato mixture to pan. Add cream cheese and the next 4 ingredients; mash with potato masher. Spoon mixture into a 11/2 quart casserole coated with cooking spray. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

Note: this can be made a day ahead; just cool, cover and refrigerate. Reheat in oven or microwave. From the refrigerator, let it stand at room temperature before cooking.
